Evaluating programs is about so much more than designing experiments or seeking statistical significance. I use data to drill down into the “how” and “why” behind literacy curricula, state policy interventions, and federal grant programs. After all, it’s one thing to know whether something worked; it’s another thing to know how to make it work better and reach more people the next time, and that’s the real reason why we need evidence.

Economics gives us a toolbox, but the human element gives us the blueprints.
